 A quality yarding of weaner steers & heifers were on offer at the Macksville Annual Weaner Sale making the judging of the best pen of steers and best pen of heifers a difficult decision for the judges. After careful consideration the prizes for the best pen of steers and best pen of heiferwere awarded to Garth McIlwain of North Bank Road Taylors Arm for his Charolais cattlePrices appropriately reflected the quality yarding and hint of widespread rain forecast for the state.

A modest yarding was sold at the Annual Weaner Sale with prices holding during the week due to strong local demand. The top and average prices were:

MACKSVILLE ANNUAL WEANER SALE

12th May 2017

The inaugural Macksville Weaner sale attracted 481 steers, heifers and bull weaners with 99% of the cattle sold milk tooth and  mostly British and European breeds. As judged by Tom Scanlon, the best pen of steers was won by Ross Kelsey with the best pen of heifers won by Tom & Pam Peterkin - both winning more than $500 in cash and cattle drench.
